Senior Developer

Overview

Achieve Internet currently has openings for open source developers with proven, rock star PHP/MySQL skills. Experience with Drupal or similar frameworks, or a history of high performance web projects is a huge plus.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience working with object oriented code, concepts and design patterns. Many of our larger sites use the Drupal framework, so knowledge of Drupal is a big plus. Additional programming experience (Perl, ASP.net, Java, C++, ASP etc.) is helpful. Experience with Joomla; system or network administration skills; or demonstrated knowledge of large scale, multi-server hosting environments would also be a big plus.

Skills

  • Great code! (PHP is preferred but anyone who can prove they run circles around other programmers is welcome)
  • Great oral and written communication (this is truly important - not just filler. If you can't communicate your thoughts clearly, we won't hire you!)
  • Experience working with 3rd party frameworks, especially Drupal
  • Team-based development experience
  • Experience with large, complex, web-based systems
  • Database development for high performance applications (ie, you write killer queries, not queries that kill apps!)
  • A great work ethic (proven at deadline time!)

Responsibilities

  • Custom PHP/MySQL coding (e.g., Drupal modules and custom db queries)
  • Code review
  • Installation and configuration of Drupal-powered websites
  • Patch existing modules for additional functionality
  • Security updates
  • Client contact throughout development process
  • Work closely with team lead and project managers

Education

We like hiring college grads with CS degrees for two basic reasons: they've proven they can finish what they start and they have a solid grounding in building applications systematically. With that said, about 1/2 of our developers don't have college degrees, so if you prove to us that you've got what it takes, this isn't a deal breaker.
