Game Show Network & Drupal 7
The Game Show Network (www.gsn.com) had the season premier of the seventh season of their television show High Stakes Poker on Saturday, February 26. http://tv.gsn.com/shows/highstakespoker/ Achieve Internet is proud to participate in the premier by building a brand-new website to support the show. Game Show Network worked with an agency to design the site, and Achieve Internet implemented it – if you can call 5 days from comps to website an implementation. We called it a Bull Run!
This is the first Game Show Network TV show site to be built in Drupal, joining their corporate site. In addition to standard functionality, the site includes custom integration with a third-party system for playing and featuring Flash video. The integration pulls JSON feeds of data to populate a jQuery slider that displays on the home page while also providing a page for the full Flash player to play episodes. In addition to video, the site has blog posts, provides commenting and social networking features, and in the near future, will provide player biographies.
This is Achieve Internet’s first Drupal 7 launch – though not the first we started. We enjoyed digging into Drupal 7 and we think it is a nice improvement over Drupal 6. We found most Drupal 7 modules are usable and have just small “gotchas.” We did discover some glitches in nearly every Drupal 7 module we’ve used, including highly-used modules and themes such as Views, Features, and Fusion.
