Vital Crowd - Scripps Translational
Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) through a grant provide by the National Institute of Health (NIH) has created a hybrid environment and approach to medicine that has led them to creating a truly unique platform for clinical trials, Vital Crowd. This platform provides researchers with the ability to incorporate community feedback into the design of real clinical trials. Currently clinical trials are typically created in a silo with little consideration to the reality of living with the disease, resulting in findings that are either irrelevant or misleading. This can cause lower trial engagement and eventual abandonment by participants wasting millions of dollars.
Digital media has shifted expectations of consumers, however the shift has only begun to happen in the health care industry. Scripps has chosen Achieve Internet to build their Vital Crowd platform using Drupal to achieve their goals of empowering patients to be able to influence the design and outcomes of their trials. The Vital Crowd platform is fully responsive and provides an inspiring design, intuitive commenting capabilities, engaging user forum components, advanced social media integration and other online community features to increase adoption and engagement.
